Abstract

Theoretical study based on hope and life satisfaction is one of the predictors of mental health and general level of happiness in life expectancy rates. A healthy society depends on women's health in that society. Certainly it is undeniable that to achieve sustainable development in a country such as Turkey it is essential to pay more attention to women’s mental health as the core element of the population. Women constitute half of Turkey's populace and yet also take a very important role in the family, as the most basic institution of society. Such indicators of women situation are very important for Turkey, which seeks to implement sustainable development in its society and become a member in Europe Union. In this study, we used descriptive methods and documents to review women’s mental health status and life satisfaction in Turkey. Information and statistics presented in this paper are based on data provided by Turkey Statistics and Documentation Center and international organizations (during the years 2000 to 2012).
The findings show that in the past decade Turkey has scored significant increase of hope and life satisfaction and overall mental health among women.
