Social media activity has become an integral part of women’s lives. Based on the content published on social media, court news, and feedback from cyberspace activists, the breadth and diversity of activities on these networks, and the specific sensitivities related to women’s presence, have made the issue of security one of the most important challenges in cyberspace. The purpose of this study is to examine the experiences of women active on social media and find solutions from their experiences, as one of the most effective methods for formulating relevant policies. This study uses a qualitative approach, conventional content analysis, and semi-structured interview tools to examine the experiences of women active on social media. The results of this study show that people who are continuously active on social media have experienced at least one type of harassment and believe that women will give up on social media, depending on the mood of the individuals and the continuation of the harassment. Educating and empowering women to reduce the awareness gap, creating independent and safe reporting platforms, reforming laws and improving reporting systems, and combating the normalization of online violence are the most important strategies for increasing security on social networks.
