Analyzing the role and impact of cities on women's lived experiences is essential for developing women-friendly cities. A women-friendly city is not merely a justice-oriented concept but also a comprehensive strategy in contemporary urban design that plays a significant role in enhancing quality of life and ensuring social sustainability. Such an analysis helps identify women's needs, priorities, and challenges in urban spaces, providing a foundation for designing environments that promote gender equity, safety, and equal access to urban spaces. By recognizing gender-based differences in the use of urban environments, the women-friendly city approach seeks to create cities that not only reflect human diversity but also facilitate women's social empowerment and strengthen their participation in urban decision-making processes. In addition to promoting urban equity, this approach contributes to greater social cohesion and economic sustainability. To this end, studies related to the keywords "women-friendly city," "urban spaces," and "women," published between 2014 and 2024 (1393–1403 in the Iranian calendar), were reviewed across Persian- and English-language academic databases. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS and VOSviewer. In the supplementary meta-analysis, standardized effect sizes, a random-effects model, and bubble and funnel plots were employed.
