The representation of women in religious texts is a challenging issue in contemporary Quranic and gender studies. One critical concern is the limited presence of women in Quranic narratives, which may initially be interpreted as narrative absence within the Quran's epistemological system. Employing a qualitative method with a descriptive-interpretive approach, and utilizing narrative semantics and discourse analysis, this study examines Quranic verses related to prominent female figures, including Maryam, Asiya, the mother of Moses, Zulaykha, the wives of Noah and Lot, Sarah, the Queen of Sheba, the daughters of Shu'ayb, the wife of Zechariah, and the wife of Abu Lahab. The findings reveal that the limited quantitative presence of women is not an indication of absence, but rather a narrative strategy grounded in a "selective and meaning-oriented presence." Women appear at pivotal educational and faith-oriented turning points, represented as spiritual agents, symbols of resistance, independent faith, political rationality, repentance, or active enmity. The anonymity of certain figures functions as a discursive mechanism for the generalization of their roles and the foregrounding of their functions. Ultimately, Quranic narratives represent women not based on quantitative narrative presence, but according to the depth of meaning and guiding function.
